but it's looking like the deal is not going to go ahead.
maybe owning another will have to wait a while yet.
here's my old baby from many moons ago BSO 882Y
how i miss those days.........
If I may...
I've owned my fair share of cars, including a number of fords and including a handful of RS models. Never an RS1600i though, although a colleague of mine had one in the early 90's that I drove a few times.
My absolute favourite though was all mine, and it was a G reg '90 spec Mk4 RS turbo. It was immaculate and unmolested, a minor miracle considering it was the early '90's in Essex. I loved that car, and when I sold it, I really missed it, like no other car before or since.
You can imagine my delight then when I was offered a drive of a recently restored example. It was a ground up restoration, using as many original parts as possible. No aftermarket boy racer rubbish was tolerated. I settled into the drivers Recaro (a little more snug than I remembered), turned the key, let out the clutch and was greeted by the utter shock and total disapointment or realising that the car I loved had all the talent, finesse, poise, refinement, and quality of a cement mixer...
They say you should never meet your heroes, I can expand on that when it comes to cars.
In short, keep the Tranny, its much nicer than some flawed old 1st generation front drive warmed over dagenham white goods.
