** Ibis Tranny - Apple Green **

Re: i've got a TRANNY locked in my shed.....

the 'Frameskin' for my Tranny arrived today, :D but i had to pay an extra £12.94 customs charge, the swines! that makes for bloody expensive Frameskin!
FYI, Alan of Frameskin in Australia is great to deal with and very helpful. he does a vast range of frame kits and could pretty much make anything you wanted frame/fork/crank protection wise.
on the upside, at least i'm gonna have something to keep me amused over the Xmas hols, looks like there's a few hours work in fitting the protection kit! :xmas-big-grin:

Re: i've got a TRANNY locked in my shed.....

Wasn't there a fairy tale based on that? Rumpledframeskin!

Re: one-legged TRANNY locked in my shed - update

don't know if it's been done before, but......
arrived today and currently on my living room floor is a U.S.E. S.U.B fork and front wheel to suit, and my plan is to bolt it on the Tranny at the weekend!
my old Alves 853 has been built up with the single-speed kit from the Ibis, so the Tranny is now 9 speed XTR and will have a one-legged fork too!
i guess it was inevitable really, after selling the Whyte PRST-4 recently i'm missing some off-the-wall-ness in my cycling life.... i reckon a USE SUB on a Tranny is the perfect solution!!
:D

pics to follow.....

i want a one legged fork now. stamps feet........

Re: IBIS Tranny now with U.S.E. S.U.B. fork !!

arrived today from USE is a small box of joy, containing a new top cap, a new hard spring and fittings, a new stanchion, a new main fork bush, a new seal and a full new set of external bushes! :D
and from ebay a black 317 rim and gold nipples to tie in with my ringle rear wheel.
i guess that's my weekend mapped out!
will update with photos of the strip and rebuild and first impressions of the S.U.B. soon!

Re: IBIS Tranny now with U.S.E. S.U.B. fork !!

Love the look of the USE sub fork., how does it perform?? A very, very pretty bike! :)

Re: IBIS Tranny now with U.S.E. S.U.B. fork !!

Thanks! :D
As for performance, hopefully I will know by the weekend!
The spring the SUB came with was far too soft for me, hence the hard spring and service kit. Have just rebuilt front wheel with a black rim, so strip down and rebuild of the SUB at the weekend should see it up and running!
I will post the findings here !

Re: IBIS Tranny now with U.S.E. S.U.B. fork !!

I've had my eye on a tranny since it first came out. And I mean that with no ooh-erring intended.

That's a magnificent build. Can you fit a 650b wheel in the back? If you stuck a pair of 650b wheels on it... Hmmmm.
