simpson helmets are legal in the uk.
i got stopped with a bandit on, and just as the smart arse plod wanted to give me a ticket i pointed out the e4 badge under the chinstrap meaning it conforms to eu road use regulations and unless i was mistaken britain was still in the eu therfore eu law applies. he made a call and promptly siad have a nice day sir and ride carefully.
so i gave him a cheery wave going past on my back wheel at 90 ( i made that bit up)
the older 80's bandits are illegal but contary to popular belief you dont need a kite mark (that just means it meets british standards) take a look at any car tyre none will have kite marks but they will be e4 stamped meaning they are european road legal. or we could pull every frenchie who drove off the ferry.... now thats an idea :D

To be honest I am amazed that a couple of my helmets are legal if some of these ones are not. One of mine is basically useless unless you happen to fly in an arc and hit the ground inverted.

I remember in the very early 80's having a simpson and although not uk legal it was passed in the u.s. which at the time had a higher pass requirement than the u.k.

Plod did pull me up on the rd350lc only to say he wondered what they were like as he was considering buying one.

I've had bandit and roof helmest before as well but the fit for me wasn't as good but since then agv's have always fitted my odd shaped bonce well

RD350LC.

The first fast Alfa I got, we headed out to a pub and my mate on his RD YPVS waited behind to collect some keys.

I hammered it to the pub, but there he was pints all lined up.

Fast as feck.

True classic.

I don't usually take pics of me helmet.

the problem with the early ones was nothing to do with the strength as they were mainly used for drag racing and had nomex fireproof lining and arguably one of the best helmets around, the issues were with the uk laws the visibility due to the narrow visor aperture and the noise level. they introduced the super bandit (the stig wears a descendant from that) which passed uk law. they remodeled the bandit and removed the side clip and moved the vents from vertical at the front to horizontal at the sides and added carbon/kevlar to the mix. (the early ones were just fibreglass hence the weight).
to get back to the original question as one person said the airbrushing has been done to the death (i had mine painted predator style in the 90's looked awesome and cost nearly 500 just for the paint) but with cut down jeans, doc martins and a rd350 you were untouchable :D :D .
then i grew up..........
good luck with the purchase but look around for the airbrush work the pics you are showing do look a bit beginnerish (is that a word?) and the price seems a bit low if it includes the lid as well.
