Hose pipe ban!

It is so cheap to set up rainwater collection, surely everyone keen on gardening is now getting the message?

It should be imposed by building regs.

We've just built a new garage and it was a requirment of the planning approval that we fitted water buts to the ends of the drain pipes and collected the water.

Take your bike into your bathroom and use the hose pipes cousin...........the shower ! ;) ....no one will see then :D

Fill a bucket and use a brush, no big deal. Or if you prefer come to Scotland where the last hosepipe ban was in 1976. Admittedly it's been pissing down since then.

I've had a knackered cistern since the end of last year really should get it fixed but just shut the door to stop hearing the constant flow of water

I've rigged up two water tanks with taps in the last fortnight, one for when the nipper has his bath, I syphon the bath water into this and use it for cleaning the car / bike / watering the flowers.

The second I capture water in a bowl when running a tap for hot water, saves it going down the plug hole. This then gets stored in the tank and used on the vegetable patch :D

I'm on a water meter so hopefully this'll make a real difference.

That is the ticket!

Big water butts (great video by the way) are so cheap there is no reason not to impose collection on any new build.

No one would be whining about the hose-pipe ban, within reason, were they able to tap into thousands of gallons of 'green' water.

I am all against legislation for the sake of it, but this is one area where grants could be made available and legislation would work.

That is very true, exercise is great for arthritis.

I like mobile washing solutions, but there is nothing like a high pressure hose, just don't aim one near anything that needs its lube intact.
