Hose pipe ban!

Ironic isn't it? since the introduction of the ban this month it's rained every day to some extent or another

Oh and you can still use a hose pipe during a hosepipe ban. The wording is something like "you can't have a free flowing hose" or some-such.

That means, that as long s you have a nozzle on the end that is an on-off type you are fine. One like this...

Won't stop the nosey neighbough calling the council when they see you though :D

That picture is a free flowing hose with a spray head, and has water restrictions on it, you could say its for health and saftey reasons that you wash your bike.

That document says that you can't use a hosepipe from a container, so if you collected rainwater into a water butt who are they to say you can't use a hosepipe from it? Think they'd get told to do one by any judge.

Let the mud dry, knock it off then drag the bike in the house and shove it in the shower, no one sees you that way.

Fill a bucket and use a brush, no big deal. Or if you prefer come to Scotland where the last hosepipe ban was in 1976. Admittedly it's been pissing down since then.

I was at a meeting the other day, with some other horticultural types, one of whom mentioned that a colleague of his predicted this years early hoespipe ban in.................. 2007!!! Saying if we won the olympics there wouldn't be enough water to go round in SE England, flipping ridiculous!!

If that is correct then it's quite ridiculous! I know of a house build in 1927 that incorporated a huge rainwater tank from new which was intended to be used for the garden. The house is in wales so no chance of a hosepipe ban there, but if there were it would be silly not to be able to use it. I don't know why houses aren't built with rainwater tanks for garden use.
