Hey does anyone know how interchangeable the freehub bodies are on hope xc, sport and bulb hubs are? If at all...??

this was raised recently but for the Big un: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/hope-big-un-help.438121/

The bulb, Big un, and XC hubs are all interchangable, it just comes down to material. not sure about the sport? is that an older one? Bulb and Bigun were supplied with titanium freehubs, whereas the XC came with steel freehub and all use the same pawl designs. the issue with the titanium freehubs is unless you use an anli spider, they tend to mash up a bit from the steel cassette bodies. Not quite as bad as the newer Alloy freehubs on the pro ranges, but still noticable.

Thanks - so it was. I should have checked first :)

I don't know about the sport hubs, or at what point they came either. I've got one XC hub and 1 sport hub and the only difference I can tell is the disc bolt recesses going all the way to the flange or not. I'm trying to avoid it, but tbh I could just take both cassettes off each wheel and check if they're interchangeable or not. Both wheels could use a new freewheel before too long.

Thanks for your reply. No I’m not sure... The bearings are ok. Pawls and springs I will replace too, but the section where those sit is what makes me think it’s worn out. Like they all look a bit loose in there and the thing looks a bit ... baggy? Expanded outwards? Hard to explain. Guess that could also be the pawls a bit worn down too

There are two sizes
1.Bulb/big un and 2.XC/ti glide. Hope didnt make a large range of freehubs, there were to my knowledge only the two.
The sizes relate to the bit that interfaces with the ratchet. The bulb and big un are much larger than the xc/ti glide, so what you would get is no way would the big un/bulb fit into the XC/ti glide and vice versa the ti glide/xc would be rattling about in the bulb/big un ratchet. It might work in a bodge but the pawls would be quite far from the ratchet in that they may only just engage, and could possibly slip and chew up the ratchet ring or possibly damage the freehub pawl seats.

The sport im not 100% sure of, but i'd judge its the same size as the XC/ti glide. I could find out for sure as I've a bnib sport rear and could pull off the freehub and compare it to a bulb/big un freehub.
Should anyone actually want me to do that. Its a 5 bolt, and in that flavour there was a sport 5 bolt and also a bulb 5 bolt, so it seems a bit odd that the sport 5 bolt would have identical sizes to the bulb 5 bolt, rather the sport is equivalent to the XC disc
