Holding ones head high using full mudguards

It always amazes me how some people don't use mudguards in winter. I generally tend to have a rear Crud Guard fitted from about October through to April as a matter of course.

It can make the difference between sitting at the bar supping a pint at the end of a ride, and being asked to stay outside coated in several pounds of wet mud.

That front Fender probably weighs in at at least seven and a half pounds, including the strap.

Though many bikes don't have fittings for guards, a bottle mount crud and seatpost rear weigh so little it surprises me as well. I find it amusing to see mud splattered be-goggled 'serious' bikers, who seem to take it as part of the 'fun' to get drenched in mud.

Mud renders lightweight clothing dangerously ineffective, as well as posing other health hazards.

The whole idea of using bikes to cross all terrain is to actually cover some distance; these people tend to get back to their cars/vans post haste where the rest of us cycle for as long as possible.

I see the same with kayaking/surfing. These people rock up with their fancy roof racks and £1500 sea touring boats, and spend half an hour out in the bay, before packing it all away again. All about image. All the gear, no idea.

I see what you did there.

That's quite funny, and Tintin said you just posted boring things.

;)

So who decides what is cool? If a bunch of insecure nobs want to point and laugh I'll do it all the more just to show that I ain't no sheep.

LGF has the right idea and having ridden an old Saracen through the winter in not too cloggy mud I can concur.....

Full Mudguards Rock! :)
