Aluminium rivnuts are common for bottle bosses, although they do work loose, and we replace quite a few.

I don't think you'd want to hang a lowrider on them though, and I'm never a big fan of drilling a hole in a fork blade.

Brazing something into the fork hole will regain a certain amount of the strength lost, but I'd usually advise a mechanical fix, or braze an eye on the front or back of the blade
