Help in identifying a frame

Afternoon all. I recently acquired this bike from my flatmate and I was wondering if anyone could help me to identify the make.

She bought it about 7 year ago but the rough year it was produced looks like late 90’s- early 2000’s. The original paint was stripped off and it has currently been painted with grey undercoat. The frame number is AS00200421. It’s got quite distinct welds and characteristic dropouts.

Specialized? Looks not too dissimilar to my 2004 Rockhopper. Check out the archive on http://www.specialized.com (it goes back to 2002).

Now I need to go shower and get this horrible modern smell off me!

looks a bit like a rockhopper or similar with slidey dropouts added

Usefully you've posted the frame number, and it has come up in a search. It is an old thread, but your frame number has only been seen on Coyote frames (so far). I have records of HT4 and HT5 frames with an AS00 number, including one of my own.
I wonder if this may be one of the Coyote Dual frames? Certain models had the same rear dropouts as this frame.
However they mostly had square tubing and bigger gussets.
