Help in Identifying a Cannondale CAAD3 R700 1997

Dear bike-experts,

I hope you can help me with identifying the year of my Cannondale CAAD3 R700, because something doesnt add up, at least according to the infos from the orignal catalogs. Cannondale Catalogs


The Serial number below the BB reads "II", which means the date of Production should be September 1997, the color is a dark blue w/ yellow decals.

According to the catalogs there was neither a R700 offered in 1997 or 1996, nor the color was offered.
Anybody has an Idea?

Sometimes Cannondale were slow to update the catalogues and certain models were updated mid year.

Does this help shed any light on your frameset, have you checked the wheel size?

Interesting, but its definately a 700C frame, 650B Wheels wouldnt fit..
