Help identify the year of this Stratos?

Gotcha, thanks.

I bought it for the syncros forks that it was advertised with. My Cirrus came with some generic fork and I'll be swapping the forks over and concentrating on the Cirrus/syncros now

Look at the 93 catalogues (see my sig), this is clearly a 93 Stratos, it's last year. Font and it being a fastback seatstays. Prev 3 years (90-92) it was a wish bone rear. RM did funky fonts for it's line up in 93.

nice upgrade if it came with the Syncros fork, though it looks like the early gen with the lower profile crown.

cheers RockiMtn. Thanks for this, great to know "Font and it being a fastback seatstays."

I'm not sure why they would put "hand built by..." decals on it? During that original Everest Manufacturing era, that's something that wouldn't have happened under that roof unless is was handbuilt. I'm aware that later they were putting "Built in BC" decals on overseas-built frames that were shipped raw to BC, then painted and decalled in BC and this allowed them, under this grey area, to call it "built in bc".

thanks again, RockiMtn and everyone.

It's got the fastback stays right (I saw it one of the FB user groups), so it's 1993 or 1994. Odd decal, yes, but it's just decal. They might have made a short run of them? I think the Japanese frames had a 'K' in the serial number, or am I confusing that with something else? Where's IShaw?

Thanks man, sorry I missed first time around. I have a habit of not refreshing my tabs. Or proof reading lol

regarding serial numbers, here is my knowledge:

with regards to Cirrus frames, i've confirmed YA0 serial number on 90 model with 27.0mm that someone owns, as well as a 91 clearcoated model with 30.4mm that i bought and then sold. i still own a YA1 model i bought new in 92, it's was a "frame only" purchase with black decals and not red for that year. wasn't clear coated so i've always assumed it's a 92 model frame. also sold a large no clearcoat 20" Cirrus, again i believe YA1. i could confirm that. i've never come across any YA2 Cirrus model.

That being said, oddly the two Experience frames I currently own are YA2 serial number, and 1992 was the last year it was offered. I also owned a 1992 Stratos for sometime. I can't recall noting what the serial number was on it, but it was clearly a 1992 model with respect to decal and stock components on it, as well as it being having a pearl clearcoat.

As far as I know, (have learned and seen)
xx0xxx = 1990 made frame
Xx1xxx = 1991 made frame
Xx2xxx = 1992 made frame.
It is not necessarily the model year, since if made mid to late that year it probably next year model.

This happens with other manufacturers to (notably A-Pro made frames, like the Orange Alu-O etc)

No doubt also made in batches.

My Stratos is YA21079 a 1992 (18.5")
Another members was YA21021 a 1992 (18.5") viewtopic.php?t=553
Another is 9110671 also iirc a 1992 viewtopic.php?f=1&t=302259#p2262282

Possibly the second number is an indication of month? No idea.

Re:

thanks RockiMnt. You've been really helpful. Here's a full pic if it's of interest.

But that Stratos is too small for me sadly, and I will probably put the front end on my Cirrus and get it correct

I also have another Stratos that I'm just starting to build up as well. This one fits me and I'll use it :D

cheers FluffyChicken, makes total sense now. Hopefully I can remember all this! The hard drive is full and needs a defrag...

if the 93 Stratos is too small for you, wouldn't the Cirrus be as well considering how BIG the other early Stratos you have is (19"-20"??)? here's my Cirrus for comparison and it's a 17" which looks about what you have.:
