HELP! Can anyone help me identify this Araya Frame?

Retro Newbie
From what I can tell, its built for 26in wheels. Has Downtube shifters and the steerer tube says Tange on it.

It was repainted when we found it but upon taking of the paint, we saw its an Araya. Perhaps a Japan only model. Any thoughts or leads? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I found a serial number on the headtube. A5F12334 is there a place I can search this? I can't find anything on google! Thanks!

Hey mate, nice find.

I have a Japanese Araya from 1990 that I (semi) restored last year. Mine is badged as an Araya, but also a Muddy Fox!. Check out my link below in my signature as I found an online manual for ALL Araya's.

My Araya has Tange prestige tubing, so likely your frame is fully Tanged up too.

Interested to see what your one turns out to be.

Cheers

It is most probably an Araya Muddy Fox MTB made for the Japanese market.

Early 90's models had the Araya Scripture on the top tube and the Muddy Fox one on the main tube.

My Guess, your frame is mid 90's as they reversed the pattern on the decals for later years.

Most of their frames were Tange Chromoly and some of them were lugged.

Nice Find, hope to see it restored.

Thanks guys.

After going through all their cats, I think it maybe a 96 to 99 touring mtb. I wish I could figure out the original color. But will probably leave it untainted and clear coated after I sand blast the paint.

My opinion was 1995 or 1996 from the 5 in the serial number. Just a hunch though from other style codes.
