Hi All

I am having real problems with my rear brake on my Kona...
Front brake is perfect but back brake is very sloppy/slugish and I can not correct it to get a clean crisp braking?
This is my first Kona with the brake seat clamp... Have I got the right one? was there one for V brake and one for Canti?
or am I missing something here ??
Any help appreciated ...

Re:

I'm no expert, but do you not need one with a cable stop on it?
Looks like you just have cable liner running the whole way from front to back, making the straddle cable at the rear all off-centre.

First off - OOOOOOOOOOOOO - is that a 94 Hot? LOVELY!

Secondly, it's defo set for canti's not V's. I'm afraid that's where my level of expertise stops (!) All I would say is that the straddle, in fact the brake line as well, look very loose. There's no tension. Those cables should be taunt and straight, not saggy.

Re:

Or it may just be the way it's set up.
See this Dog Collar....

@al-onestare Yep its a HOT
Just not getting it out much due to the rear brake :facepalm:

Nearly stripped the brakes yesterday and was going to add Magura or v brakes ... but thought I would ask on here first to see if I can resolve the issue...

@ al-onestare yes Cable is very loose ...
Could it be that the dog collar should not be straight at the back but at an angle?

@jimo746
Yep that dog collar makes the brake cable look tighter and straight

That may be it, easy enough to adjust it and see.

Can you put more tension into the arms by moving the tension spring into a higher hole on the frames brake bosses/ tightening the adjuster screws?

I echo the lovely bike comments :)

I think if you cut your outer cable and add the end cap that should stop the outer cable running through and the inner should bend more, giving a cleaner line to the chill pill.

Might be worth flipping it with the bolts the other side of the seat tube to see if that makes a difference too?
