Hands up who owns too many Bikes

Current bike count is 8, have promised to sell 2 of them after buying a modern  bike last weekend. The 2 I want to get rid of I never ride anyway so not too unhappy about it.

ahhhh, yes, that's more like it :D

some of those look too small for you ;)

That's another thing, how many of us have been so obsessed with finding 'that' bike they dreamed of only to succumb to the stupidity of buying one that is too bloody small or too big for them.

I will hold my hand up to this. My STS is prime example. Wanted a good condition one sooooo bad that I convinced myself that the frame would fit me. What was I thinking - I'd grow into it or something. I'm 37 and the only things I've got left to grow are my nose and ear hairs

You spend the time and cash only to sit on it thinking, God why?

I used to have a good few bikes in the old stable before I 'flew the nest', these days it's just my Development Bikes 853 'ride anything' hardtail.

HOWEVER, there's the new-yet-retro 'identity crisis' build going on as I type this, followed by the Spooky Bikes CX 'Supertouch' build up when the frame lands from Mickey in the States, possibly another super-light XC based (ultra-modern) hardtail build and hopefully by the end of summer a new DH rig too.

Has Jez-too-many-Bikes posted on this thread yet?

Also you lot, get some photos up as it will give the rest of us some inspiration for builds :)

Yes!

Just traded away a Fat Chance Team Comp that was sized XL- it was beautiful; would've never traded it away if it were a Medium...just got tired of looking at it and not being able to ride it. Then met a cool taller guy into old steel, and thought, might as well trade it along. In it's place I got a cool Fat Chance from 85, but a bit of a rat rod.....my bike number remains the same

OK I confess I own three 16" frame bikes when 18's are my size but here's the reasons why:
- a 16" 1991 GT Team Avalanche with a Rock Shox RS-1 for $30...if nothing else it becomes a parts bike.
- a 16" 1992 GT Team Avalanche with 120 original miles...yes that's right. Full M900 XTR near new group and this one didn't cost me much either and the M900 group is worth what in near new condition?
- 16" 1994 GT Bravado LE in near new condition with only a couple hundred original miles...again a good pick up with natural skinwalls and mint parts for near nothing. I also wanted more steel in the collection.

Then I must confess the three XL frames I purchased in one fell swoop. All three are Todd Wells personal frames. Two are 2007 model year aluminum Zaskar Team frames with Todd Wells top tube decals....they don't even say Zaskar on the frame. The there's the Zaskar Team carbon Beijing Olympic frame. Naturally everybody that raced at the Olympics had a spare frame in case something happened while training the week before the big race. It's NIB NOS and never had a part installed and only two were ever made like it with the USA decals and the riders name in the decals too.

I guess there are those among us who ride everything we buy and own and some of us know that what we paid for what we bought is tiny compared to the potential worth of the bike or frame.

I have five that I ride... the Psyclone, the worlds only SS Psyclone, My Xizang, My Edge Steel road bike and my Edge Ti road bike. The Edge Ti road and the Psyclone have been getting the most action miles this year.
