About the painting, do not paint it, GT's should be polished (or the '99 ZaskarLE colours)![]()

With a spring instead of an elastomer, will those Girvins have any damping? I'd imagine between that and the somewhat unsophisticated rear suspension the ride might get quite lively (especially if the rear shock has lost its oil)![]()
You ain't gonna be able to permanently remove deep scratches or dents, but a thorough polish will get it looking good enough to make you forget about them.

I don't want to forget about the damage though, I want to remove it![]()

just how much of a difference do you think that Quadra's would make?
So I need to tighten and loosen the shock spring repeatedly? How many times?
I will use Autosol and Brasso, but first need to sort out:
Additionally, I have uploaded a video to demonstrate what happens when I puch on the rear shock (after tightening and loosening as you suggested).

An undamped spring on a fork is a bad idea; but with no specific experience of this type of Girvin fork there may be independent damping (although i suspect the original design relies on the inherent damping properties of the elastomer)?

Unless you fill the dents and deep scratches and powder coat the frame, you can't 'remove' them. A 15 year old frame is meant to have a few war wounds![]()
