Re:

Great knowledge bro, thanks for that. Im looking for something like this to do the LEJoG in a couple of years time, just waiting to hear back about the size, and see what his best price is. Can't think why rhe decal wouldnt be original so I'm going with that.

with the gt bare frames the decals can wear off after time, so sometimes people will replace them... also all gt frames look the same (and many ARE the same) so a decal change to an upper model = more $$$, but then they usually just put on zaskar decals for maximum effect...

Good point, I was thinking if he was trying to make it out to be something it wasn't it might have fake decals making it look like something much higher spec than a standard 97 Avalanche, as you say, and also £50 isn't too excessive as a starting point providing it's in good nick. Was going to aim at the 30 mark and go from there.

I'm about to embark on a sanding/polishing job on an Alu Marin Rocky Ridge so I'll have had a bit of practice at that before having a go at the GT!

7005 series GT frame from around 1996 onward-ish

£50 is a bit overpriced as you can often find a tidy whole bike for that.

i actually have a bike that looks like the same frame. mine is a 96 gt avalanche so the decals arw different. also needs a good frame polish. also recently found a new old stock gt timberline in my dads garage so soon going to replace all the bit on my avalanche.
