GT ident help

Picked this up recently and despite searching couldnt definatly ID, I think its an Avalanche but am often wrong!!
It measures 16" C to C but I cant remember how GT size their bikes.
has 7005 stamped on the dropouts so not a zaskar gusset is on the top tube, rounded end to the top tube. Some monkey has filed off the brake cable guide on the seat tube. Any help appreciated

I'm going to stick my neck out and say it's an Avalanche.

I did think it might be a Pantera, but I'm pretty certain they were 6061 and not 7005...

looks just like a 1996 backwoods i had

Could be a backwoods or arrowhead.

All the arrowheads I have seen have the gussett on the down tube.
will research the backwoods though.

Is there any clue from the serial numbers on GTs?

I have to agree that it's a Backwoods. Probably a 95 or 96.
