Growing hostility towards Mountainbikers and Cyclists

Re:

Take her out on some nice gentle bridleways and get her hooked on that. It's strictly offroad for all my family these days. Too many illegal drivers and angry people on the roads. Those classic Dutch bikes are great. I remember my Dursley Pedersen replica fondly. Such a comfy bike for pootling about.

Mine has one of these for shopping. I'd just swapped the small wine box for large beer crate, so she can carry more bacons. She also found out that if she puts heavy stuff at the back it's an instant wheelie machine. Smiley face valve caps, puffy saddle for wide lady bits, proper girl bike. I even added a compass bell so she can find her way home.
(Not sure if the pic will work)

I quite like that, being a Kona too, and I love the wooden crate – I'd even things out a bit by fixing the smaller crate on the front, instead of the wire basket. Then 'pimp' the bike a bit... Another option would be a cargo 3-wheeler bike.

Read this in tonight's Evening Standard on the tube home (yes, I wimped out and left the bike at work) – here's a more positive article to buck the trend:

Great article, bet her brazed joints are some of the finest with her background but...I do prefer the imperceptible tiny coin stacks on a top tig weld. It uses 7oz less material to make a lighter frame and the ride is better. Fat City made some of the best frames for smaller/female riders. They really understood the geometry and frame specs needed. Here's a pic of a small FAT frame. Seat tube and down tube are std Yo Eddy 29.4 diam, top tube is 25.5mm, this helps it to have some give and comfort for smaller lighter riders. Feels lively, super light and great to ride. Couldn't resist taking it for a blast thanks to my trusty 425mm Syncros seatpost

Ah, the mighty Syncros and those Powergrips! Bet the small Fat is a real blast to chuck around with that frame.

I also like this bike built by Hartley: https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/porkeu ... 3282713663

Having sold loads of cack kids/small ladies sized bikes in the past ( didn't have a choice ), I know quality when I see it. The new Islabikes Pro series small bikes are £££s but still not a patch on the 23yr old tiny Monster FAT.

Yep the Fat looks really smart and certainly a hell of a lot better quality than alot of ladies bikes out there although a mini Al Mega wouldn't be a bad 2nd option from what i've read on the forum ;) ..

Agreed, the Al Megas are summink. Shame Alpinestars stopped making bikes. My fave is the T24 though, inspired bit of design for smaller riders.

Yep! the Al mega's are really nice bikes and the T24's look yummy in white and i'm just hoping next year i can get hold of one for the mrs or just a frameset and they have to be the best looking bike in white imho and as for Alpinestars no longer making bikes i wasn't aware tbh that they had :( ..
