Growing hostility towards Mountainbikers and Cyclists

Re:

And all trains and buses have to be adapted to carry at least 20bikes, so you can just keep riding and get a lift back when you are knackered.

Re:

Increasingly, in recent years, the roles of farmers has changed from one of solely agriculture to one including being custodians and managers of the land. However, this role might be redefined depending on how the UK votes in the EU referendum and who is in government after the next general election.

Ever thought of relocating to Holland?

I have but I'm too stupid to learn Dutch at my age, I know they speak better English than me. I'm just hoping I live long enough to see cycling nirvana created in Blighty. We have the scenery just a bad nimby culture to deal with.

Re:

Got home last night and my missus shocked me somewhat – she'd has fallen in love with some reconditioned old posties bikes she's seen on the web. They are rather lovely I must admit and great value too.

However, this is not the point. The point is that she has never ridden but she's seen these lovely sturdy practical bikes and is seriously entertaining the vision of pootling about on one. Now, I always fully support her with anything she wants to do but on this one, I must admit I'm shit-scared at the thought of her going out alone riding the local roads in my area – based on all my years of seasoned riding and my personal scars from battle-hardened years of commuting by bike. I know she secretly worries about me when I'm commuting, but still...

What should I do? I would love us to ride together but based on all my experiences on the roads, I feel I can't whole-heartedly say it's a wonderful idea for her to entertain.

Mine has one of these for shopping. I'd just swapped the small wine box for large beer crate, so she can carry more bacons. She also found out that if she puts heavy stuff at the back it's an instant wheelie machine. Smiley face valve caps, puffy saddle for wide lady bits, proper girl bike. I even added a compass bell so she can find her way home.
(Not sure if the pic will work)
