Friction vs. Index shifting

I guess my point was that although it works, it lacks the feel of friction, which was what lead me to start this thread

I’d never go back to commuting with friction dt shifters. Lost count of the times I’d reach down to trim a gear when I really needed to keep both hands on the bars because of a car being an arse, incoming pothole, drain, glass etc. Eliminated that with indexed shifters. One less thing to have to think about when I really need to be concentrating on the surroundings.

That is an interesting question, never had friction on the bars only Suntour bar ends. Maybe.
