Sorry about the delay in answering lads, the dent on the eldridge grade frame is a dent not a ding, it's not so bad that it's altered the frames geometry but you couldn't easily fill it.

The weld on the KHS is a minor one and will be hidden behind the chainstay, the weld is much bigger than the crack was, it was a small hairline jobbie and was spotted early on and repaired professionally, since then the bike has been built and rode in various guises and the crack has never reappeared.
