Thanks chaps..for most parts its been good....but feck me.....I'm off..I have had enough of most of the so called 'mature' members.

It's been good talking to you the few times we have; take care man...and remember, you can always come back ;)

I understand the sentiment...sometimes I wish I could say that to the world.

I'm ok

We've been in touch with Carl to try to understand the basis of his grievance and whether it's anything we can do to help. The response didn't offer any more detail so there's nothing that we can do (assuming that there is anything that we should/could do, and we've no idea if there is). As such, that's really the end of things.

Just to pick up on some earlier posts though, I can quite understand why someone on here might say 'goodbye' if they are off (although why you don't just go 'dark' for a while seems odd - let's you come back later without any need for face saving). But signing off with "feck it" and oblique references to 'mature members' and their behaviour without clarifying further seems to me to be a bit strange - it will of course spark discussion with people jumping to conclusions that may or may not be correct, others leaping to defend etc. (see this thread for details), and why would you want that if you're off? It certainly generates attention as we can see being on Page 3 of this thread.

Hopefully we'll see Carl around these parts again but in the meantime I wish him all the best.

Just ignore some of the more annoying people on here Carl ;) I bet most of us have a list of people we won't deal with again :?

I've had wheels described as very good condition turn up with cracked worn through rims and half the bearings missing, shifters that don't shift and a bike that had completely different and lower spec to the one advertised :? these were all from long standing users on here who would be the first to complain if we did the same to them

I've had a few things from you and all have been as described if not better and posted quickly ;)

I don't know whats happened but I think there are a few on here who forget most people have a life outside of Retrobike

There's a life outside Retrobike?

I've got a list of people that I won't buy from, or sell to, on here even if they're selling something that I really want.

So it's not just me that has one of these lists then?

I wonder if I'm on anyone elses? I hope so, wouldn't it be dull to be liked by everyone?

If you like, you can send me 50 quid and I won't send you anything in return?

:)

this is scary. One of the reasons I only buy/sell from close-knit sites like this is that I feel I can trust everyone, it being a small world. Wouldnt touch the site with thaarsands of members.
Do these people get publicly ousted off the forum?
Maybe I should just stick to face-to-face deals or buy new??
