Klein has to be the biggest one for me - I sold my Attitude Race in protest!!!
I forgot about Pulstar, they made some lovely stuff
and what happened to Fred Salmon?

finally this one will make you laugh/cry

when i was out on my retro kona the other day it caught this guy's eye. he turns to his mate and says something along the lines of,
'that's a nice looking bike'
the other guy says
'kona, yeah, you get them in halfords'

i really REALLY wish i hadn't heard the second guy!

SINCE WHEN???

what about Pro-Flex, when they introduced full sus cross country bikes did they not win back to back xc world champs with Henrik Djenris?? and now? ....

Whatever happened to Suntour?

In the early to mid eighties, Suntour and Shimano started to make some nice road bike components and were sort of level pegging in terms of quality and performance. Both were more affordable than Campagnolo, which everyone that could afford it used.

I lost interest in cycling for a few years and when I returned in the early 90's, Suntour components were nowhere to be seen on mountain bikes. (Did Campag ever produce any MTB stuff?)

They still exist: http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/, but I haven't come accross any bicycles which use their components, other than the odd, fairly low end bits and pieces, and the components don't seem to be available separately anywhere.

Suntour forks are meant to be getting better to be fair to them... though the MTB cranks are toss! I think they lost it when Shimano left them for dead in '89 with the introduction of Hyperglide.

Campagnolo produced some very lovely MTB kit, here the '91 Euclid groupset, courtesy of
