Fahrradrahmen (Bicycle Frame)

Retro Guru
Hey, been reading this forum for a while. Well, two months ago, i stumbled over this one on ebay kleinanzeigen (small ads) advertised as "Fahrradrahmen". 30 Euros. :? Confused by the colour, but i guessed a 93 by the threaded stem.

Left her a message - no one answering. Thought it was sold. :( Last week i got a message back while on holidays, saying: Just read your message, frame still here, give us call. :) Back home, i called them: Bike was ridden only about 200 km, rest of it is also there. Settled my pony and drove 100 km to a nice bavarian village to have a look.

Seemed to be true: All parts, original saddle, even the bb, etc., were in a bucket, wheelset also there. I bought it all for 50 Euros and drove back home. :D

Lord, i spent two evenings just gazing at it, with a beer in my hand. More to follow....

Re:

Tires: One thing of the original setup was missing: The front tire. While cleaning the parts i found out that the preowner ruined it with a breakshoe. The rear tire is in quite good condition for its age but decided to put new ones on and to go skinwall, because they might match the blood red frame colour.

Options panaracers or canis. I can't imagine the rolling performance of the first one, guess there isn't and read that the canis also isn't that good rolling. By searching the net i found the maxxis DTH which i hadn't seen before, and thought "bingo".

Saddle: The original one is quite ok, but logo colours are a bit faded. So i chose a turbo from 89 which was designated for another project  . Grips: ODI Attack

Re:

The only thing that troubled me during the rebuild was the stem. The damned bolt didn't move. I had to wet it in WD40, used an old seatpost as extension for the key and really feared breaking something. Finallly it moved.

To do: Wiring, shifting and ready for a test drive. :D

Re: 93 Stumpjumer finished

Testdrive passed sucessfully and some pictures taken. Little corrections on the brakes and i think i'm done. It's my first specialized and i'm really impressed. Phantastic ride and fits perfect! The DTH are super good on hard ground, i can only recommend them.

Re:

Great looking bike, a fantastic find for the money. Nice photos too.

Tyres look a bit modern, I think blackwalls with minimal logos would be more suitable.

Re:

Thanks! Frame and crankarms have minor scratches (mostly from standing around and disassembly, i guess) which i partially fixed already, overall it is nearly as good as new, i think.

I also have the receipt and service manual from the preowner. Feels like christmas when i was a kid - 50 € :xmas-big-grin:

Maybe you are right about the tires, but somehow i like their style

Nice find for the money.
Not very sure about the tires, the skinwall is correct, but I like other style of tire.
But if you're happy with them then it's OK

The bike seems in stunning condition :)
