before this weekend i would have agreed but after standing in a que for an hour to collect a paid ticket after a disastrous experience parking ( i understand rain but not bad organisation!) has changed my mind.im glad to have done the first two which were great , Eroica B will now move into profit mode and concentrate on reducing costs and maximising sales,not unreasonable but am not sure i want to be part of the funding group! the real Eroica is great and this experience is perhaps the push to justify spending more on the "real" event

perhaps if we had a major private ride next year it might kick EB into some reaction!

Well it was my first time at the event and not really what I expected. The ride was ok and had some good conversations with the riders I met on route.
Wasn't impressed with the feed stops especially the last one at Chatsworth I could have fed myself better.
The camping was a bit of a joke not being able to park the car by the tent you don't get that with other campsites I've used.
The show ground itself was a mudfest and the stalls didn't appeal to me much there where a couple of good ones there the Reynolds one was informative BB and Lugs made using titanium 3D printing and some of the craft stalls up-cycling old bike parts. The bike jumble was good but I feel that the charge of £100 for the weekend helped to bump up the prices (average price for pitch at a bike jumble is £8 to £12) but I still managed to pick up some bargains so happy with that.
All in all I did find the whole event too commercialised for my taste.
Overall rating I'd give it a 5/10 more for the people and bikes than the event, would I go again undecided .

The camping was a bit of a joke not being able to park the car by the tent you don't get that with other campsites I've used.

I've never been to a festival that lets you park by the tent.

I agree on the rest though, much more commercialised this year, a bit too big. And we had to queue in Tideswell for an hour to get our food. The whole experience just wasn't as enjoyable as 2015.

I'll probably keep going but only because of the location. I have loads of friends and family in the area. I would like to see alternatives pop up though, might give EB something to think about.

I couldn't make it because of some family and domestic commitments and spent a lot of the weekend wishing I was up there but reading these comments make me think I dodged a bullet. Sounds utterly chaotic and not being prepared for rain, in England, in June, is pretty unforgivable

is that Gaole or gaol? If the latter, what have you done?

I went walking on Sunday and drove through Tideswell and it all looked great. Loved the district nurses on their sit up and begs

Pity it seems to have got a bit too commercialised. I suspected this would be so for the first one, but after it seemed they got it right, I was prepared to accept I was wrong and went positive on the event. I hope the experiences above are just a blip. Having said that, maybe it was the weather that made it good back in 2014. It was a hot summers day

Yes I felt it wasn't quite the same as previous years and felt there had been cutbacks

We had accommodation in tideswell so we only rode in Saturday to register and again on Sunday to ride

Missed a few off road sections this year which I really enjoy :roll:

We were running late and never set off till 07:15 but we had a clearer run and missed the tideswell queues

We clocked 193k from digs to ride and back and 3150m of climbing :shock:

Legs feeling it today

No interest in the commercial added on drivel

All in it's the ride I go for so all good from my end

Interesting reading the above comments.

Being local I had no travel or accommodation expenses and didn't queue on the A6 and took to the lanes to bypass Bakewell and parked up at Great Longstone and cycled in with my partner. We had to queue at the ticket office for 20/30 mins on Friday afternoon.

The show itself?....to me it seemed to have lost its way and become a "lifestyle" event with some bikes! The goodies in the bonk bag were bit of a let down compared with last year too.

The ride?....I enjoyed it but the lunch halt at Biggin was a huge disappointment, again compared to last year at Hartington. Both the food and location weren't up to scratch, with no option of a hot drink. Again the Chatsworth halt was a let down!

Will I go next year?.....yes probably as it's on my doorstep!
