Although if your petrol Catches fire, a swift exit is wiser than firefighting, even if that bundle of Ā£1000 you just got for the pristine Kirk Revolution is in the glove box.
 
True the dizzy is all you need.
The glowing Manifold is typical lotus performance overkill.

Sadly the records confirm that conflagration is a frequent end for a 70s lotus. More care needed!
 
I hate diesel ever since I came off my bike cornering on the filthy stuff.

me to, only ever had one diesel vehicle and refuse to have another. I should have gone with the V6 petrol, but they weren't easy to come by.

perhaps hydrogen is the right choice? it won't drip on the manifold. :)

hindenburg wasn't great but it was designed to do it's job, the R101 was designed to fail, much more interesting disaster until you realise 46 lives were lost.

if I put the hydrogen in a hard shelled tank instead of a giant balloon would that help? I'll have to store it at 300bar though.

I'm scare mongering, hydrogen is no more dangerous than petrol and in some ways a bit safer (rapid dispersal and drop to below LFL, unlike liquid fuels that sit and slowly let out vapour to ignite). also, a hydrogen combustion engine sounds awesome. :)
