eBay description issue

If you had gone through ebay then they pay return postage and you are covered for loss in transit. If you are paying for postage make sure its tracked.

Re:

I have gone through eBay, using their returns route. It says he'll send a label but all he's sent is an address. So it looks like I've got to pay for the postage....

Ebay will either send you a return label to print off or simply require you to upload the tracking number once posted then you get the original price paid including postage and your return postage too. They require you send it signed for and pay when delivery has been attempted, even if he refuses to answer the door.. You have returned it as item not described haven't you?

Also you can choose the postage service you use, you can send it UPS same day fully insured if you wish, you need to make sure it gets there to receive refund.

Re:

I started using eBay back in 1997... I’ve been ripped off in every conceivable manner. Both selling and buying. I completely assume I’ll be ripped on everything, so I usually just send a message asking if they’ll take a much lower price. They bite probably 1/2 the time. Patience is the best, there will always be more in better shape and a lower price.

I agree. In some categories it's not worth buying goods unless from a well established shop on there. I remember trying to buy a secondhand iPhone. It took more than half a dozen attempts before I found a seller who wasn't a rip off merchant. I don't try to buy phones from eBay anymore.

Selling wise, it is just a lot of hassle from chancers, those trying it on and....ahem....low ballers. My time is worth money, I'm not taking a trip to the post office for less than it costs to post something (unless an act of karma).

Re:

I only buy Marzocchi z series forks, I look for the leakers. I've purchased possibly 10 ish and none have had fresh oil or the correct oil. But I've always got a few sets of seals and a few quarts of golden spectro 125/150 to service and keep or.flip. I can't be bothered with any other old forks as parts are non existent and they would be binned if they had the same use as a Marzocchi.

On the selling side I've had nothing but good luck, internationally and domestic. Keeping lowballers away is as simple as raising your lowest offer limit. I also don't allow communication with 0 or negative scored sellers.

But if you get something in poorer shape than advertised ask for compensation or a return.
