Early 1993 Brodie "BHDT" eXpresso - FINISHED Part 2 :)

Re: Early 1993 Brodie "BHDT" eXpresso - FINISHED

Thanks guys. Its a really nice riding bike. My only beef is the longer travel Mag21s give it a bit more of that climbing bob. Its annoying ... or lockout has made me soft :D

Woah, hadn't seen this one yet, amazing!!!
That'll hold me over for now. Woof.

How do you like the Avid brakes? I just picked up a pair for my Manitou (kept hitting my XTs with my heels)...

Thanks! This has been my retro trail bike this year. I probably should enter it in this months BoTM, but I only have the one shot of it on the trail. It'll be out next week ... All roadie this weekend. Yawn.

The Avids are great. Tons of stopping power. [So far] my favourite canti brake system. New KoolStops and new Mavic make them even better.

That's what I like to hear! Yeah baby! I've been looking for Graftons, but everything I have read about the Avids has been stellar. Thanks Pro's Closet!

You'd have a good shot at BOTM with this build, nice to see such a potent paint choice, wowza!

Graftons are a tough find. $$$$y to! Diacompe 987s are the best value IMO. Not a lot of love for them, but they are a great brake. They'll likely be on my 1994 Soveriegn when I get going on that.

Great competition for BoTM. I'm always a bridesmaid (or ugly cousin) in those things. All good fun though.

Is it a 19" frame? I've got my eye on an 18" and I'm wondering if it's too small. I'm 5'11"...

That's a 19" Brodie. I find the fit good with the rockshoxs. That's a long travel mag21 so it's longer than a normal one. With the extra kick everything fits well. I'm 5-11 on a good day. My other two Brodie's are rigid and 18". This one fits the best to ride hard, but that may be more the geometry adjustment of the longer fork.

I have a 19" Blizzard I redid. Same top tube length ... It's a bit too big. Odd. It's been sitting in the wall for months.

I have a 20.5" 1995 Brodie Sovereign, and I'm no longer in denial - its too big! I may trade it for an 18" 1993 Expresso if I can't find a 19"... The 18" still has a 22.9" top tube, so it might work...

A friend of mine is working on a 20.5" brodie ... Big bike. He's 6-2 I think.

You'll be like me. A stem choice will make either a 18 or a 19 work.
