dont ride with your headphones on!

Anyone who thinks they should be ok riding around with headphones on in mixed traffic should have their bikes taken from them.

End of.

headphones

A chilling tale indeed I wish him a speedy recovery and hope all goes well with the plastic surgery.
You certainly need your wits about you to survive on busy roads these days and headphones dont help I found on the few occaisions when I used them that drivers would get up close see you were wearing them and give you a blast of the horn so I stopped wearing them.

So at the age of 17, you were perfect out on your bike?

children dont normally play on busy roads.

Headphones, lack of concentration, whatever, it was still a nasty accident that could happen to anybody.

Sounds like rider error to me, nowt to do with headphones. Accidents happen though and i hope the lads ok.

Sounds horrendous, best wishes to him and his recovery.

Not sure what it is about the name Ross though, my mate Ross was commuting on his way to work a few months and was overtaken by someone, like your mate, head down, gunning it and didn't here the lorry reversing beeps, bang!!! Ross said he could see it happening 30 metres before it did. The bike was fubared as was the rider, who was scooped up by the ambulance, who I believe has made a full recovery, but it could have been so much worse - what would have happened if he had seen the lorry at the last minute and panic swerved into the opposite lane?

Sometimes you have to learn things the hard way unfortunately.

Here's a pic of his bike and his blood on the towel....
