Does anyone think that the noughties was the highwater mark?

If you cherry picked the best bike from 1990, 2000 and 2010, it would be pretty obvious that nothing much happened between 2000-2010...... maybe that's why I have three bikes straddling the turn of the millenium!

Re:

Really?? Surly seemed to make it, for me at least. 2003 they imtroduced 29 wheels to the masses with the karate monkey. Pugsley 2006 introduced fatties to the masses. Commencal/ yeti/ giant etc made long travel trail bikes an everyday thing. 150mm travel is acceptable now. Long travel hardtails like the dmr/ ragley blue pig/ etc were acceptable with 130-150mm forks. Then after all that they now change to different wheel sizes after 2010.
Well that's my take of a couple of highlights

In the post 98 section you'd expect to find post 98 tech fanboys not a usurper from the 97 and before section stepping into the arena and making the statement that nothing happened between 2000 and 2010.
Might aswell go into a fireworks factory with a lit flamethrower

Every decade has produced GREAT bikes and GREAT components.

I have thoroughly aproved of On-Ones of all shades, GT iDrives, fatbikes, hydroforming, mass market discs, carbon fibre, brilliant full sussers etc etc etc

Alternatively what would happen if a post 98er went into the pre 97er section and said this joints the sports dark ages

........or fattest low point ;)

They are fun to ride and in basic form are, other than the huge tyres, feel ....well.....retro :D

Re:

If you are after a thoroughbred XC 26er, the early 2000s had some really underrated bikes, especially from the likes of gary fisher…
