Decent rear guard that looks good.

Always thought rear guards look crap.
Where I'm riding lately there seems to be lots of large stones flicking up and chipping my paint.
Is there a rear guard that looks good?

You mean in the way that a streak of brown up the back of your trousers doesn't make you look like Grandad?

No mudguards is fine in California, in the UK it's different unless you like fixing stuck seatposts.

Re:

Have a Crud Race Guard, similar to the above but fixes to the seatpost. Quite good. VGC. The rubber shims are long gone but easy to replace. £7.00 posted if you are interested....

Re:

If you're worried about chips maybe some helitape is needed. A seat post mounted guard will be no use .However I've used a Zefal No Mud and placed it well back of where it should be. That would work and then the Crud guard keeps the muck off my back.
