DAWES FOX

I have got a Dawes Fox, seems very original according to the catalogue in this thread. They are an unloved poor relation to the Dawes Galaxy, though looking at the specifications the frame seems to be a Galaxy without the Reynolds main tubes.
The suicide brake levers are awful, though even the Galaxy had them then, and the steel rims don't help the braking either. The frame is a mix of nice gold lug lining and horrible plastic transfers that wrap right around the tubes.
With a few modifications they can give you a Galaxy on the cheap

Love it! Looking for Something for Dawes with Reynolds 531 now.

Re: Just purchased.

Sadly only on paper but not in practice! What happens is that the upper lever usually touches the bars before the brakes are fully on.

Learn to ride on the hoods and apply the brakes by squeezing round with your fingers. It works fine. If you insist on having levers on the tops too, then fit interrupter levers.
