Putting a cabbage leaf under your cap was a well tried and tested technique for keeping cool in hot sun. Not tried it myself but I learned about it from reading Rene de la Tour in 'Sporting Cyclist' rather a long time ago........................Rene Pellardin definitely my second favourite to Rebour. He had a good eye for the comedy in cycling. The Tour de France wasn't always the super serious event we see on TV today.
