Crank arms. How do you protect yours/hide rub?

Wanting to protect the paint on my newly acquired cranks. One side is clean, the other has a bit of rub.

Most protective skins seem to be clear, I'm after some black to fit the profile of some xt m8000 cranks. Ideally something plain. Seen some which have a bizarre texture, other than that, not much else.

Any diy options?

I wrap mine in 3M clear protective film, sometimes 2 or 3 layers thick. Using a heat gun and taking your time, it will protect the crank and still look great. Can't even tell mine are wrapped.

Re:

Glad to know, but after a black option to help cover some rub and protect from further rub.

I remember seeing in an old mbuk they used an old inner tube. or you could use heat shrink i suppose. or black vynal

You could try pedal extenders. They move the pedal a short distance away from your crank.

Shouldn't affect your pedal action too much. I hardly notice any difference.
Cheers for the suggestion. I've never suffered from heel rub on my own cranks, previous owner did.drive side is fine, nds has some so just trying to tidy them up a bit.

Try Silk Graphics. I just got some for my sram cranks and they're good quality.

Go into 'edit colours' and you can make them all black with the XT logo in whatever colour you want.
Good shout. I forgot about slik graphics. Have some on my m970 cranks and they are excellent quality. Cheers for jogging my memory.

Ordered some.thought I'd give the cranks a clean in readiness of their arrival and found that the drive side had a full clear protector on it and was mint underneath. Non drive side had nothing. Why? Weird!
