Yes, I did thanks. Looks really good built up.
What was the problem with the way it was built originally, you mentioned you weren't happy with it?
Super, i'm pleased you like the bike.
Everything really was wrong with 2006 build. The folks were on another bike and i invested in some carbon folks with an aluminium steer and they were just awful. The stem could not give me the height that i need and i could only ride on top of the bars. The seat post did not give the laid back position that i needed and the seat kept slipping of the rails. It caught me out once, when it happend i had a very uncomfortable 25 miles ride back home standing up. After a while i had to keep stopping as my hands and wrists kept cramping. They were numb for ages afterwards.
I had a few mechanics take a look at the gear change but for some reason the original Dura-Ace equipment would not work properly and the transmision was terrible. I replaced the cassette with a new Dura-Ace 9spd 11 -21, which they still make thankfull, i replaced the original shimano chain with a KMC chain, which cost £35.00! and i replace the 7700 Dura-ace hub with a 7850 Dura-Ace, a very lucky find, and thankfully it's done the trick. I'm now getting the transmission that you would expect from Dura-Ace.
The seat post is a loan from the bike shop as i have snapped my FSA K-Force seat post not one but twice in six months. Can you believe it! I'm Gutted!!
I Just got some really bad advice in 2006 from some one that was a salesman and not a cyclist.
I could go on! but you get the drift!
I suggested brick lane bikes as a possible source for kit i had a look on their web site yesterday and there does not appear to be much there for the Colnago but they are worth a phone call. The place i can also recomend is Condor Cycles they are a super place to do business with and they might be able to help with equipment.
My remaining wish list for the bike:
Get the rust on the rear triangle sorted and a possible re-spray in Mapie blue?
Royce titanium bottom bracket, nice!
Mavic race Sl TI road peddles.
Garmin edge 800 with full bundle GPS
That's going on for another £1000+. Once i have achieved that then thats it, it will be as good as my money can make it.
Please let me know when you have a complete bike i would like to see how you have set it up.
Thanks
