chain question

The really snazzy ones have plating etc for rust prevention. However, if you keep them well lubed I can't see much difference as a light oil film covers them anyway.

SRAM chains are excellent. Don't need a chain tool

I used a KMC 9spd chain on a 7spd system in thick 'orrible mud and it was better than expected

Ok, starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for the help guys. I'll opt for the sram PC870 off to my local bike shop

Thats the same one i just put on my Grisley a couple of days ago.
