Canti , V's or Disc brakes which is best??

So looks like v's are in the middle in both of the power and weight.

I think it's a really sweeping generalisation to say that discs are lightest - I think the arrows are the wrong way round....?

Generally cantis and V's are about the same, with discs generally heavier - extra on the hubs, wheels need longer spokes, rotors, hydraulic cables etc.

i'm going in terms of "best-ness" on that factor. so cantis are better than v's which are better than discs for weight....

I know what i prefer

But i'll say-'each to their own' ;)

If you want to stay alive on the trail ,then discs it is
but if you want to build a nice original specced MTB from the 80-90's, then canti's or v's would be right and proper

I think this is important on a site dedicated to older bikes ;)

Vs as good as discs power wise....in the dry

Any mud/wet involved then discs best cantis & Vs hands down

Disc's are absolutely better than Any rim brake, both in the dry and the wet.

Yes, no question about it  Better in every way - power, modulation, reliability, ease of set-up, and I don't think that something like Marta SL's give much away weight wise either.

So alot a people like disc then. So rim brakes are no good anymore?

Nothing wrong with rim brakes in the dry at all....more than adequate unless your riding in the alps
