Anything that dissolves grease and oil, without damaging the plastics.
Many people use petrol, because they've got some to hand.
But there are probably superior ones, less toxic, less residue - but of course petrol has evolved to not damage plastics, gaskets etc


But No Smoking!

Airbrush on all the scratches with a fine sanding over afterwards so only the cravices were left filled. It’s lovely running your fingers over it and it‘s super-smooth.

I might have to steal this idea for my Kona build

It might seem like a „…duuh“-quoetstion but since I’m by no means a native speaker, neither in the Kings nor in the BiketechJargon, I try to make sure I’m not ending up with sulfuric acid, it‘s a solvent after all. Smoking wouldn’t be a problem though…

So I got around to refurbish the mech, worked out great an I learnt something new again. Thanks @bikeworkshop !
Time for a first little test-run!
Still a few things to fine-tune, still need to decide on a color for the DCD. UnionJack or continue the red/yellow scratches? The latter would be a bit too much of the same for my taste. Maybe matte black…
