Trying to determine the serial on a Dale that I have.
Any tricks to make it readable other then X-ray vision?

Shining bright light at various angles might help -

If you don't want to sand the paint back, you could put some kitchen foil over it and rub.

The paint is probably filling the indents though.

So I think this is the serial although it does not make a lot of sense.
The frame measures 56.5CM which is XL or 22"

The serial is 52009903608 which would work out like this?

5 | 20 | 0990 | 3608

5: dropout 135mm
20: 20" frame
0990: built sept 1990
3606: sequence number (what?)

What am I missing.

Sequence number is the production run, so yours is no 3606.
I don't know if this is just for frame size 20, or all sizes of the model - maybe an expert in these numbers will clarify, but it's far better info than 99% frame numbers give you!👍

C-C it's 50CM which would equate to 19.6" give or take a 20"
Didn't know Cannondale were measured like that ever but that must be it then.

Pretty sure metric is a 18th century thing, then some monkey made up the other one in the 19th century.
Just saying.
