Hi Guy's,

Seems like a dumb question maybe but can you use tubeless tyres with tubes?
I have recently bought some new Specialized Team Master/Control Pro tubeless tyres but didn't realize they were tubeless. I want to put them on my Rockhopper but don't have UST rims.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Dave

Re:

I found adding "non tubeless" tyres to tubeless rims simple.

It costs a few quid, but not excessive. Try Superstar components for your parts (cheap and worked for me).

If you get the tape and valves first seen if you can set and inflate the tyre with out the sealant.

You may need decent pump/compressor.

Happily yes, been doing it for a year now.

Just as I was typing that though of the opposite question, how does it go running tubless tyres on regular rims with tubes, I am assuming it is no problem, but you never know. Migt still get some use out of my tubless tyres after all.

Tubeless rims and tyres are designed to seal without a tube, if you do fit a tube then it can become trapped between the tyre and rim and then fail.
That is why we don't fit tubes to tubeless car and motorcycle rims anyway, not too sure about cycling tyres but I wouldn't do it unless it was just a get you home thing.

well i just use the tubeless rim (american classic says they can be run with tubes) but not tubeless tyres, was just wondering if there is any weird issues with running tubeless tyre (as I have a set doing nothing) on non tubeless rims (with tubs).
