Can you save my bacon, I need a Shimano SL-M740 rear shifter

Due to Halfords Bike Hut staff breaking my shifter I desperately need a Shimano SL-M740 rear shifter in time for Friday as I am supposed to be riding L2B on Sunday.

Do you have one or know someone that has?

Not good on the numbers, is that an 8 speed shifter only, without brake lever, or the combined thingy? Have something, need to check what exactly!

It is a separate shifter, dark grey body with a 8spd window. If you google it, it is one of the first images at the top of the page.

Looks like these...viewtopic.php?f=2&t=295629 Only thing is they haven't got cables in and from past experience the screws round off when you're trying to get the cable cover off to fit them....

That's the one. I have just changed all the cables and sleeves so that is no problem. It takes a very small /unusual size Philips head screwdriver to undo them. In the photo it looks as if there is damage to the clamp. Are there any other cosmetic faults, does it work correctly? How much would you like for it and how soon could you get it couriered to me?

If it helps, the internal mechanism is the same on M739 and M740 shifters. Both can be a bit fragile though and require nice clean well lubed cables.
If they are stiff and you try to force them the ratchets often get stripped.
The cable cover bolt also requires a good quality screwdriver of the correct size to remove them too.

Unfortunately I haven't any spare though.
