Can you adjust a maxle?

It is more than likely ocd, but also a touch of safety and clearance.

Just been putting a build together, and when I bolt up the maxle and engage the qr, the final position of it is pointing down rather than sitting neatly in line with the upper as I do with my qrs.

To get my desired position, the maxle is too loose.

Can I adjust the maxle to achieve a better position or am I stuck with where it is?

Totally depends on the axle and / or what it threads into.
What axle is it and what does it bolt in to?

This is the maxle in question. As you can see, its probably in the worst position for catching branches etc. I'd like to get it so it is pointing up in front of the leg.

Yes. Open the Maxle lever, unscrew the Maxle a few turns so you get about 5mm clearance between the drop-out and Maxle lever.
Push the lever part in towards the fork and turn it.
There's a spring which gives a bit of resistance.
(It feels a bit like when you open one of those childproof medicine bottles)

Screw the Maxle back in and close the lever.
It may take a few tries to get exactly where you want it.

I've never thought to leave them in the fork to adjust.
I usually look at it like a clock.
You want it 12 o clock and it's currently 5 o clock.
Remove axle, grasp axle firmly by the shaft in right hand, with head of axle at the top.
Push palm of left hand onto head to compress the spring and turn it anti clockwise back to where you want.
If you examine it first, you'll see a bunch of notches on the head and a little line on the axle so you can see where you're at.
