Can someone talk brake discs to me?

Shimano do 2 types of rotor, one is the 'centrelock' version which needs a cassette tool to fit/remove, the other is the industry standard 6 bolt pattern (I'm talking modern here, not retro!), which is why you can only use Shimano hubs with the centrelock version, you can use any 6 bolt hubs with the 6 bolt pattern ones.

If you're going modern (assuming you have the correct mounts) Formula Oro get great user reviews.

Ah, thought you meant disc brakes and not rotors...
