Cheers all!!
Those Suntour canti's look heavy duty like they could stop a bus. Do you have a model number so i can search them. Saw some nice Avid ones in on Chain reaction website but they were £80 i think each if they suited the bike. Would be nice for my Fisher but over kill on this Marin.
Currently cleaning the rim as its been neglected will degrease with some brake cleaner at the end. The pads in it look like the £2.99 ebay specials. I can pull the lever as hard as I want and the bloody thing wont stop. Now the bike isn't massively heavy and nor am I.
I will definitely look at the video and get a set of the Richey pads and have a tweak of the set up.
The straddle wire is a 93 (if I am right). On the mounting boss one canti spring is set to the top and the other in the middle. Not sure if this is right. One Canti is lazy / sticky.
The bike was from a friend, basically I sold a newish Carrera I built myself in favour of getting two retro ones for me but to share with the wife. (Wanted a Kona Cinder Cone and a Specialised Hardrock like one I had years ago but plenty of time). My Gary Fisher I love the colour and when I can will do some bits to it. This Marin I want to go through it cleaning it bit by bit and getting it right then if I decide to paint the frame all it needs is a strip down and paint.
Where is the best place to get new bolts from? I've got some stainless in the shed but the head of the bolt is far to small.
