Bontrager Race OR

@widowmaker Thanks.
The fork has 1⅛" legs, from what I can gather the difference between the Race and the Comp forks is in the leg construction, Comps had bonded on aluminium dropouts and canti bosses whereas the Race had welded steel dropouts and bosses more like a Tange Switchblade. I also think but am not sure that the Race fork appeared after Bontrager stopped producing the Switchblades for Tange. Probably to fill the need for a cheaper version left by the discontinuation of the Switchblade.

MBUK did a fork test of both models…the reduction in welding (+heating) made the race fork superior I believe…think also the earlier comp forks had tapered legs, like Switchblade, some even had kinda horizontal drodpouts to adjust the for trail. I’d be happy with either , think those black chrome ones look particularly cool

Great info, It would be awesome if anyone has a copy/details of the review.

Thought I'd have a try at the drop bar thing on this, think it might need a stem with slightly less reach but I'll give it a go and see what I think. _20220322_182509.webp _20220322_182406.webp
