Rocky Mountain Tibolt

Syncros parts are a „must have“ for an earlier RM Titanium imho. Of course a Revolution crankset and a long hardcore seat post would look great on the Tibolt. In the end it‘s a combination of „what you have“ and „what you think would look good“ as long as you‘re not planning a catalogue build. I like catalogue builds but in that particular case I tried to do the build with similar parts I had on my TiBolt back then… Must have been 94 or 95. The fork, brakes, saddle… Drive train was a 7 speed Suntour XC Pro and the seat post was a Kingsberry / Am Klassic Ti post. The rims were Wolber and the stem was a long RF titanium. I‘m not a 100% sure but I think the head set was a red Real Seal and my crank was a red I-Beam back than. I was young, I didn’t have unlimited financial possibilities so I used as many parts as possible from previous bikes…
This actual build is a combination of what I used in the past, what I had in my caves and what I would have used back then if I just had the bucks to buy 😜😅🫣. So it turned out the way it is and I‘m pretty happy with it. I used some of my favorite gems like the fork that was done by the great Wadsy or the Ibis stem/bar that is hard to beat in terms of aesthetics and craftsmanship. I might change the pedals to a pair of 737 or even 525 pedals (with Exus Ti spindles) simple because the 747 pedals hit the market later (96 or 97 I think… but correct me if I‘m wrong)
It‘s always a pleasure to talk about parts and periods and very often I can learn something new. I was always sure that the Turbine LP was the evolution of the I-Beem but in fact they existed parallel and the I-Beam came with a compact spider 96 only. There must have been a freaky 110/58 spider as well…
There‘s still a lot to learn…

Ah well... thank you for the hint. I'm not so very deep in the scene and I have too less experience here. But whoever is looking for "Tibolt" will find this post. If we look at all the very special and wonderfull bikes here and all the effort people like Wadsy put in the restauration of parts, frames and whole bikes I'd rather not blow my cheeks too much. It's one thing to build a bike with cool parts some other talented and passionate people brought back to new shine. It's something completely different to do it all yourself. I don't want to compete against these guys. They wear underwear in a differnt size 😂 😂 😂

well said. i can appreciate a personalized build. it would get boring
quick if we all did the exact same build on the same bike every time.

i was joking with the syncros comment. bit tongue in cheek.
