Best steel frame available today?

Spoke to someone at JE James this morning who then phoned Orange re the new R8. Apparently there are only going to be 105 frames produced and they haven't even started speccing them yet! Sounds like they will go quick though as James's are prepared to take a deposit even though prices are not yet known. Looking at June/July. Emmmm, what to do?

What about the as yet unrelased Orange R8

853 tubing, nice colours.

It's in the '09 Orange catalogue but not on the web site.

Should be a winner :D

It is if you know where to look ;)

Decided to save up for either a Curtis XC100 frame in blue or wait until this years RM Blizzard comes down in price at the end of the year (love the blue colour and would go brilliantly with a Fox F100 white and blue fork). Unless something comes up in the meantime!

Saw that Carl but I prefer the new colour? Call me a snob but if I am building my dream bike at some point then it will have to be in the colour I like. Love the Blizzards though, had a ETSX70 2 years ago, quality bikes. I think I am harping back to my first decent MTB in a way, a blue M-Trax 3000L. Wish I had never sold it, not been able to replicate the ride since!

Thought you must have seen it, and totally agree with you......no mater how good it is if it's the wrong colour than you are never going to love it.
Curtis looks good, although I know nothing about them  Have you had a look at the Rourke web-site?

If you've not owned/ridden a Blizzard before, then you might want to blag a ride on one (in the size you're thinking of buying) before you lay down your hard earned cash.

They can feel too short for some people, depending on your preference I guess, although I like mine that way and a 70mm stem and in-line seatpost make it even shorter I suppose.
Nice if you want to be able to shift your weight around easily, but doesn't suit those who like that flat back, retro style riding position (which I don't).

Anyway - my 17.5" 2006 Blizzard in its current set-up -
