Best production Hardtail of the 1990's?

Re:

That makes the spookywhateverbottom also one of the worst bikes if that is what has created evrey path to have berms, jumps or been closed/areas fenced off due to being ripped up, hacked up and stops the average person from having fun. :-(

*Shuffles away with his head down*

Re:

As an overall package, a Trek era Bontrager Privateer S is hard to beat... Keiths clever thinking encapsulated in a mass production bike that cost around £850 iirc...

Simples!

Just shows, there's no accounting for taste. :D
Yebbut, 1990's bikes are an acquired taste :D
Not everyone is supposed to like them. The Schwinns of that period sure stand out, the homegrown admittedly in a more roller disco kind of way with the gold head tube and all.
It may be light, use all top end components and ride superbly, but I think it looks absolutely awful.
Some would say 'noticeable' when surrounded by a sea of Giant XTC's. I prefer a bit of wackiness compared to the current cookie cutter attempts of moulded tubing with the company name stuck on the downtube. It is supposed to be fun.

Fear not, they won't be making them like that anymore, so your retinas are saved from burning on wacky paintjobs.

Please don't google for 'gt karakoram tequila sunrise' whatever you do....Nooooo...

And Rocky Mountain quietly continued to churn out Blizzards in their Vancouver shop........

Bontrager

"Pick One"

Bontrager 'Experimental' just done Lands End to John O' Groats in 99 hours on the road over 9 days (Including all breaks) by a 65 year old.
Perfect!!!

Klein Rascal has to rate.

I had low expectations when I first picked it up, but the smooth ride, point-n-shoot handling and easy "flickability" made it one of my favorite grab-n-go bikes.

Re:

Hard to beat my Zaskar LE but I have to go with the ARC. In all fairness, it's a 99 with modern 07 full XTR, fork and disc brakes so it doesn't qualify; but hey, it is a 90's hardtail so...

Brooks saddle and grips have since been replaced with a Flite and some sticky yeti grips.

I'd throw my 91 Yo into the fray but it's just a tad too small for me to compete wit the aforementioned.

+1 for the Bontrager Privateer, the RM Blizzard was also rode great (both steel).

I haven't ridden a DeKerf or a Yeti but I didn't have DeKerf or Yeti money at the time.
