Been Bag Cycle Clothing Ltd

Thanks everyone - Wow it's great to hear from you!

I will post on the road cycle forum too thanks for the tip! Yes, Mick Bradshaw was a sponsored been bag rider i think...he had a really bent over style so logo's were put on the top of his back upside down so they could be read from the front!

Those black ribbed tights were a best seller and remember making many pairs over the years in the factory in Consett County Durham where they were based before Durham city!

Orange were a great customer of been bag's for many years - Lester Noble came onto the stand at Harrogate with a very rough sketch scribbled on to a scrap of paper that we used to design the original 'spotted' orange jersey - this was then rolled out into many other garments that you will be familiar with Ollie - might even have a few!

Muddy Fox were another customer of hers along with most key brands at the time.

Black and purple sound very 'been bag' :) The logo was black and white though and was a key colour for the DeRangeD range they did and their all over arrow design - the York rally was always full of bargains!

i don't remember Fat Chance - will ask Mum if she remembers :)

I will have to keep an eye on ebay - would be good to get a few things!

I will put the catalogue pick up tomorrow afternoon - think you will like it :)

Thanks again all!!

Hi Corinne ( not sure if you will get this). I was the original screen printer working at the Ryton and then Number 1 estate near Consett. This was early 1981 through to 1985. I was also a focused RR cyclist riding for Ryton Cheviot cycling club and sponsored by been bag ( I still have my vests and ski suit in a box.
I have fond memories working with Mall Anderson all the sewing lasses and Don. It seems like a lifetime ago but I can still remember the pride I had in printing the then world pursuit champions jersey Ian Hallam and other British professional riders kit. I do have memories of we’re Mollie and Jeff lived in Ryton and can remember you at the factory. I still have an original Gore Tex been bag jacket that was introduced to the world via been bag.
Happy days!!
Kevin

Hi Corinne
Just came across this in a search for been bag. I have a pair of fat chance shorts that I bought off of you whilst you were manning the stand at Bike 95 or Bike 96 it must have been. Still in wearable condition...! Wish I had more of your stuff. (It was only last year I finally acquired a yo eddy!) . As a teenager i'd never come across the name before and a black haired cat we got soon after duly got named Corinne. Sorry about that.
Will
