Newly listed is useful for picking up the buy it now listings but other than that I like to see the things ending soonest just in case there is something which I want that ends in a few hours.

For a lot of searching I do, it won’t make much difference what order items are displayed in as there a less than 10 in eBay at any given time.

Being able to limit the search in Auction watch based on worldwide shipping would save a little time as I wouldn’t have to look at the item in detail to see if I can bid without hassling the seller would be nice but isn’t critical.

I look at ending soonest but its unlikely you'll pick up any bargains that way, unless it slips through the vultures on here.
Newly listed ,buy it now, used. and just keep refreshing the page every now and again.
Got a mint pair of gunsmoke tech x2's,ti fitting kit, pair of floating rotors, both brakes just returned from Hope for their 90 quid service and not used since.
BIN £120.

Dave

this..plus it means I don't have to drive to the ends of the earth just to find out that someone's stretched the truth ever so slightly in their description

Easy one first.

Not heard of 'auction watch' before but i usually just browse by 'ending soonest' as i end up finding really nice stuffs that end in about ten years time if i click 'newly listed' lol.

Look up to the top of the page. Bit higher. Can you see it yet? If not click here > http://www.retrobike.co.uk/auction

Righty ho, back to the original poll. The results can be ordered however I specify. I set it up to show ending soonest first because I felt this would be best for the casual browser and (mainly) because it's the default. I would however agree that a 'newly listed' search is often the way forward, if I'm really after something this is how I'll search for an item. As such it's a good idea! As an initial trial I've set up a page to enable a newly listed first search > http://www.retrobike.co.uk/auction/indexnew.php .

Think I'd leave the ending soonest as default but the newly listed option is a good one, just need to think how to better integrate it into the tool. Unless people feel the approach taken is sufficient....

John,

The interesting thing is that when you look at the list generated in Auction Watch it is displayed as 'ending soonest', but when you click on the link to view all auctions in ebay it defaults to 'lowest cost' first!

Interesting point. The 'view all items' link respects the search order to newly listed but not it would seem ending soonest. Will look into it....
